Description

This humble root, was one of the two dozen plants brought to Hawai`i by early Polynesian settlers. Olena is best known throughout the world as Turmeric, a member of the ginger family. A delicious spice used for culinary purposes all over the world, Olena adds a spicy hint to any dish. Olena is a powerful anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory, making it as medicinal as it is delicious. Traditionally, sinus and ear problems can be treated with the juice extracted from the pounded root, though users should be aware that there is a mild burning sensation when first applied.
